Overview
The brief is to develop a political & change campaign that will convince the different stakeholders to tactkle the needed actions.
Challenge
lack of awareness of the importance of phosphorus. Demand for phosphorus and nitrogen increased dramatically in the 20th century as it was found to play a crucial role in fertiliser used for growing crops.
Solution
Urine management is a global problem. Six hundred billion litres of drinking water in Europe alone are contaminated by 200 billion litres of urine every year. 80% of the world's water waste is discharged without treatment.
How can we encourage people to take part in phosphorus extraction from human urine collection?
Phosphorus is a crucial element in our industrialised world. Nevertheless, it is a very limited resource. Scientists developed a cost-efficient method to regain phosphorus bound in the human pee. For this, the human urine has to be clean and pure.
